[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 김해시는 세척시설을 갖추고 다회용기를 공급해 지난 한 해 50t에 달하는 1회용 플라스틱 쓰레기를 줄여 탄소배출량 139t을 줄이는 효과를 거뒀다고 9일 밝혔다.
시는 1회용 플라스틱 용기 사용을 줄이기 위해 2022년부터 민간장례식장과 시청사 내 공공카페, 소상공인 등에 다회용기, 다회용컵, 폐아이스팩을 공급하는 사업을 하고 있다.
2023년 11월 김해시 안동에 다회용기와 아이스팩 세척시설을 이전 신축해 세척능력을 1일 3,600개에서 1만1,000개로 늘리고 관내 전 민간장례식장 12곳과 공공카페, 시 축제와 민간단체 야외행사에 다회용기를 확대 공급하고 있다.
지난 한 해 장례와 각종 행사에 다회용기를 100만3,975개, 시청사 내 공공카페에 1만4,850개 대여하고 소상공인에게는 씻은 아이스팩 9.7t을 공급해 1회용품 쓰레기 50t을 줄였다.

한편 다회용기 세척시설은 김해지역자활센터 세척사업단에서 수탁 운영 중으로 취약계층 일자리 창출에도 기여하고 있으며 다회용기 사업에 전국적인 표준시설이 되어 운영방식 등 벤치마킹을 위해 경기도 화성시, 전북 익산시 등 타 지자체 및 관련기관 52개소에서 방문 견학하기도 했다.
