한덕수 대통령 권한대행 국무총리가 3일 "제주 4·3 정신은 지금 우리에게 뭣보다 중요한 화합·상생 가르침을 주고 있다"고 밝혔다.
한 권한대행은 이날 오전 제주특별자치도 제주시 4·3평화공원에서 열린 '제77주년 제주4·3 희생자 추념식'에 참석해 추념사에서 "이념·세대·지역·계층 간 갈등을 넘어서지 못하면 지금의 위기를 극복하기 어려우며 대한민국의 지속가능한 성장도 불가능할 것"이라며 이같이 말했다.
그러면서 "지금 우리는 나라 안팎으로 여러 가지 어려움을 겪고 있고 우리 국민 삶·대한민국 미래가 좌우될 수 있는 중대 과제들이 산적해 있다"며 "국민적 통합이 매우 절실한 때"라고 했다.
이어 "서로 용서하고 화해하며 다시 일어선 4·3 숨결로 대한민국을 하나로 모으고 미래로 힘차게 나아갈 수 있길 기대한다"며 "정부는 국민 여러분과 함께 진정한 화합·통합 시대를 열기 위해 온 힘을 다하겠다"고 했다.
또 "(제주 4.3은) 냉전·분단의 시대적 아픔 속에서 수많은 분이 무고하게 희생된 우리 현대사 큰 비극"이라며 "희생자를 추모하고 생존 희생자·유가족들 아픔을 위로하는 건 자유민주주의 국가의 기본 책무"라고 했다.
더불어 "정부는 앞으로도 희생자·유가족들의 완전한 명예 회복·보상을 위해 최선의 노력을 다하겠다"며 "미진한 부분에 대한 추가 진상 조사를 올해 안 마무리해 사각지대를 해소하겠다"고 강조했다.
한 대행은 "4·3 기록물이 올해 유네스코 세계기록유산에 등재될 수 있도록 다각적 노력을 기울이겠다"며 "희생자를 찾기 위한 유해 발굴·유전자 감식, 생존 희생자·유족들을 돕기 위한 복지·심리 치료 확대·트라우마 치유센터 건설도 적극 지원하겠다"고 밝혔다.
