[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시가 글로벌 창업도시 순위 평가기관인 '스타트업 지놈(Startup Genome)'과의 협력을 공식화하며, 향후 3년 내 세계 창업도시 순위 30위권 진입을 목표로 본격적인 행보에 나섰다.
시는 1일 오전 시청에서 제이에프 고티에(JF Gauthier) 스타트업 지놈 최고경영자(CEO)와 만나 창업 생태계 경쟁력 강화를 위한 협력 방안을 논의하고, 실질적 협력 관계를 구축하기로 합의했다고 밝혔다.
스타트업 지놈은 매년 세계 주요 도시의 창업 환경을 평가해 보고서를 발표하는 권위 있는 기관으로, 부산은 2024년 평가에서 처음으로 아시아 지역 20위권, 전 세계 신흥 창업도시 중에서는 80위권에 진입한 바 있다.
이날 고티에 CEO는 박형준 부산시장과의 접견 이후 3시간가량 시 관계자들과 회의를 갖고, 스타트업 지놈의 평가 기준과 부산의 향후 순위 상승 전략에 대해 구체적인 의견을 교환했다.

부산시는 이에 맞춰 ▲2025년 설립 예정인 ‘부산기술창업투자원’ ▲2024~2025년 중 조성 예정인 총 2조 원 규모의 창업벤처펀드 ▲글로벌 창업기획사 ‘플러그앤플레이(Plug and Play)’ 부산 센터 설립 합의 등 최근 추진 중인 창업 인프라 확대 계획을 공유하며, 평가에 반영될 수 있도록 협조를 요청했다.
또한 시는 스타트업 지놈이 운영하는 ‘하이퍼그루쓰(Hypergrowth)’ 프로그램 참여를 위한 실무 논의도 함께 진행했다. 이 프로그램은 성장 가능성이 높은 스타트업을 대상으로 하는 맞춤형 확장(스케일업) 지원 프로젝트로, 향후 부산의 참여 기업 선정을 위한 후속 협의가 화상회의 등을 통해 이어질 예정이다.
부산시는 글로벌 창업도시와의 연계 강화를 통해 지역 스타트업의 해외 진출 기회를 확대하고, 창업 생태계 전반의 국제 경쟁력을 높여간다는 방침이다.
박형준 시장은 “최근 글로벌 창업기획사 플러그앤플레이(PNP, PLUG AND PLAY) 부산 센터 설립에 대한 합의에 이어 글로벌 창업도시 평가사 등의 협력 요청이 잇따르고 있어 향후 지역 신생기업(스타트업)의 해외 진출에 이들 기관과의 연결을 적극 지원하겠다”라고 밝혔다.
