[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시가 회장을 맡고 있는 글로벌도시 관광진흥기구(TPO)는 말레이시아에서 ‘문화·언어 체험 프로그램(M-CLIP)’을 종료하고, 인도네시아 바투시에서 지역회의를 개최했다고 1일 밝혔다.
글로벌도시 관광진흥기구(TPO)는 지난 1일 ‘말레이시아 문화 및 언어 체험 프로그램(M-CLIP)’이 말레이시아 깜파르, 타이핑, 이포, 만중 등 4개 도시에서 종료됐다.
M-CLIP은 TPO가 2009년부터 운영해 온 ‘CLIP(Culture and Language Immersion Program)’의 일환으로, 회원 도시의 문화와 관광자원을 체험하고 교육 및 토론을 통해 관광 분야 인재를 육성하는 프로그램이다. 이번 말레이시아 개최는 M-CLIP 프로그램 최초 사례다.
이번 프로그램에는 9개국 39개 도시에서 지원한 청년 중 25명이 최종 선발됐으며, 전년 대비 지원자 수는 75% 증가했다. 참가자들은 항공료를 제외한 현지 체류비 전액을 개최 도시 정부로부터 지원받았으며, 개·폐막식, 관광·언어 교육, 지역문화 체험, 관광 마케팅 실무 프로젝트 등을 진행했다.
프로그램 수료자들은 향후 TPO 주관 행사 참여 및 관광 홍보 서포터즈로 활동하게 된다.
TPO는 인도네시아 바투시에서 7월 31일부터 8월 1일까지 지역회의도 개최했다. 이번 회의에는 바투, 자카르타, 족자카르타 등 인도네시아 회원 도시와 유관기관, 관광업계 종사자들이 참석했다. TPO 인도네시아 회의가 자바섬 동부 중소도시인 바투에서 열린 것은 이번이 처음이다.

회의에서는 친환경 혁신, 문화 회복력, 디지털 전환을 주제로 지역관광 역량 강화 방안이 논의됐다. 발리 펭리푸란 마을 지도자와 브라위자야대학교 부교수가 연사로 참석해 공동체 관광과 디지털 전환 관련 사례를 발표했다.
TPO는 회의 기간 중 오는 10월 부산에서 열릴 ‘글로벌도시 관광서밋’을 소개하고, 회원 도시의 참여를 독려했다.
TPO는 현재 전 세계 131개 도시와 56개 기관이 참여하고 있으며, 도시 간 관광 협력 및 관광 인재 육성 사업을 운영하고 있다.
하반기 일정으로는 9월 3일부터 6일까지 베트남 호치민에서 제12차 TPO 총회가 예정돼 있으며, 10월에는 외국인 청년 대상 문화·언어 체험 프로그램 ‘K-CLIP’을 부산, 안동, 문경, 대구에서 진행한다.
부산시는 TPO 및 부산관광공사와 함께 오는 10월 ‘글로벌도시 관광서밋’을 공동 주최할 예정이다.

The Tourism Promotion Organization for Asia Pacific Cities (TPO), chaired by the city of Busan, announced on the 1st that it had concluded the “Malaysia Culture and Language Immersion Program (M-CLIP)” and held a regional meeting in Batu, Indonesia.
TPO stated that the M-CLIP program, held in four Malaysian cities--Kampar, Taiping, Ipoh, and Manjung--had successfully come to an end on August 1.
M-CLIP is part of the “Culture and Language Immersion Program (CLIP)” initiated by TPO in 2009. The program aims to foster future talents in the tourism sector by offering participants experiences of member cities’ cultures and tourism resources, alongside education and discussions. This was the first time M-CLIP was held in Malaysia.
Out of young applicants from 39 cities across nine countries, 25 participants were ultimately selected. The number of applicants increased by 75% compared to the previous year. Participants received full local living expenses (excluding airfare) sponsored by the host cities. The program included opening and closing ceremonies, language and tourism education, local cultural experiences, and practical tourism marketing projects.
Graduates of the program will go on to take part in future TPO events and serve as tourism promotion ambassadors.
TPO also held a regional meeting in Batu, Indonesia, from July 31 to August 1. Representatives from Indonesian member cities, including Batu, Jakarta, and Yogyakarta, as well as relevant organizations and tourism industry professionals attended. This was the first time a TPO meeting was held in Batu, a small city in East Java.
During the meeting, participants discussed strengthening local tourism capacities under the themes of eco-friendly innovation, cultural resilience, and digital transformation. Presentations were given by the village leader of Penglipuran in Bali and an associate professor from Brawijaya University, who shared case studies on community-based tourism and digital transition.
TPO also introduced the upcoming "Global City Tourism Summit" to be held in Busan this October and encouraged participation from its member cities.
TPO currently includes 131 cities and 56 organizations worldwide, and it promotes tourism cooperation between cities and implements programs to nurture tourism professionals.
Upcoming events for the second half of the year include the 12th TPO General Assembly in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from September 3 to 6. In October, the “K-CLIP” cultural and language immersion program for international youth will be held in Busan, Andong, Mungyeong, and Daegu.
Busan Metropolitan City, along with TPO and the Busan Tourism Organization, will co-host the “Global City Tourism Summit” this October.
