[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산대학교 의과대학 학생들이 수업 복귀를 공식화하고, 그간의 수업 거부로 인한 혼란에 대해 교내 구성원들에게 사과와 화합의 메시지를 전했다.
대학 측은 교육 과정의 단축 없이 학사 일정을 조정해 9월부터 전 학년의 정상 수업 및 실습을 재개할 예정이다.
부산대학교(총장 최재원)는 의과대학 학생들로 구성된 비상대책위원회가 지난 4일 수업 복귀를 공식적으로 알리고, 그간의 사회적 혼란과 불편에 대한 사과와 양해, 화합을 담은 입장문을 의대 교수진과 교직원에게 이메일로 전달했다고 5일 밝혔다.
비상대책위원회는 입장문에서 “1년 반이라는 긴 시간 동안 학생들을 기다려주신 교수님과 교직원분들께 조심스럽게 복귀 소식을 전한다”며 “의정 갈등 속에서 발생한 혼란으로 심려를 끼쳐드린 점을 송구스럽게 생각한다”고 전했다.
또한 “학업 복귀를 위해 힘써준 의대 학장과 교수진, 교직원에 감사드리며, 학내 구성원 간 신뢰를 회복하고 화합해 나가기를 바란다”고 덧붙였다.
학생들은 “다시 의학을 배우는 학생으로서의 본분을 다하고자 하며, 학업에 성실히 임하겠다”며 “미래 의료인으로서 봉사와 책임을 다할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”는 입장을 밝혔다.
부산대는 의과대학 교육의 압축이나 단축 없이 계절학기와 학기 중 보충 방식으로 학사 일정을 조정할 계획이다.
의예과 학생들은 지난 7월 22일부터 계절수업에 참여 중이며, 의학과 학생들은 오는 8월 11일부터 순차적으로 복귀할 예정이다. 이에 따라 9월 1일부터는 전 학년의 대면 수업 및 임상실습이 정상적으로 진행될 전망이다.
조원호 부산대 의과대학장은 “학생 복귀 과정에서 특혜 등 우려에 대해 부산대 구성원과 시민들께 유감을 표하며, 너그러운 이해를 부탁드린다”며 “지역 사회에 기여하는 의료 인재 양성을 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

All academic years to resume normal classes and clinical training from September; Premedical students began summer sessions in July
Medical students at Pusan National University (PNU) have officially returned to class, issuing an apology and message of reconciliation to the university community for the disruption caused by their prolonged class boycott. The university has announced that academic operations will proceed without compressing or shortening the curriculum, with all academic years expected to resume normal instruction and clinical practice starting in September.
According to PNU (President Choi Jae-won), the Medical School’s Emergency Committee, comprised of students, formally notified faculty and staff of their return on August 4. In an email statement sent on August 5, the committee expressed regret over the social disruptions caused by the medical reform dispute and extended an apology to faculty members and university staff.
“We cautiously share the news of our return after a year and a half, and we sincerely apologize for the distress and inconvenience caused by the unexpected conflict over healthcare policy,” the committee stated. They also expressed gratitude to the Dean of the Medical School, professors, the university president, and administrative staff who supported students during the uncertain period. The message included a hope for healing and rebuilding trust within the university community through mutual respect and cooperation.
The students also pledged to “fulfill our responsibilities as learners of medicine and sincerely engage in our studies,” and to grow into medical professionals who uphold public service and social responsibility.
The university emphasized that the academic schedule would not be shortened or compressed. Instead, supplemental classes will be provided throughout the summer and regular semesters to ensure continuity in education. Premedical students began summer courses on July 22, and clinical medical students are scheduled to return in phases beginning August 11. Full in-person instruction and clinical training are expected to resume across all years starting September 1.
Dean Cho Won-ho of the PNU College of Medicine expressed regret regarding concerns of preferential treatment during the students’ return process and asked for understanding from university members and the broader community. He affirmed the university’s commitment to training compassionate and community-oriented medical professionals.
