[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남 최고의 한우를 선발하는 2025년 한우 경진대회가 4일 함양산청축협 가축경매시장에서 경남도와 농협경남본부가 함께 개최한다.
이번 대회는 도내에서 사육 중인 한우의 개량 성과를 평가하고 우수한 개체를 선발하는 행사로 품평회 부문과 유전체 유전능력 부문, 고급육 생산 부문 등 총 3개 부문으로 나누어 진행된다.
지난 8월 19일 김해 축산물공판장에서 열린 고급육 생산 부문에는 23마리의 한우가 출품되어 도축 성적에 따라 수상자가 선정됐다.
이번 대회 당일에는 품평회 부문에 66마리, 유전체 유전능력 부문에 16마리가 출품된다.
심사는 한국종축개량협회 기준에 따라 진행되며, 대상인 챔피언으로 선발된 농가에는 농협중앙회장 상장과 함께 3백만 원의 상금이 수여된다.
대회 현장에서는 축산물 홍보부스가 운영되며, 한우산업 발전을 위해 헌신한 시군 공무원, 한우단체 회원 등에게 도지사 표창이 수여된다.
또한, 이번 경진대회는 앞서 열린 한우 고급육 생산 부문에 입상한 4농가를 포함해 전체 22농가에 총 2,300만 원의 상금이 지급될 예정이다.
이정곤 경남도 농정국장은 “이번 한우 경진대회는 우수 한우 혈통 발굴과 농가 사기 진작이라는 두 가지 목표를 동시에 실현하는 중요한 행사”라며, “앞으로도 체계적인 한우 개량을 통해 농가 소득을 높이고, 경남 한우 산업의 경쟁력을 한층 강화하는 데 힘쓰겠다”라고 강조했다.
