경기주택도시공사(GH)는 이날 세계 최대 공연기획사 라이브네이션 엔터테인먼트와 라이브네이션 코리아 컨소시엄을 우선협상대상자로 선정했다고 발표했다.
라이브네이션은 지난해 9월 고양시와 대형공연 유치 업무협약을 맺은 후 올해 콜드플레이, 오아시스 등 초대형 내한공연을 고양에서 성공적으로 개최하며 신뢰를 쌓았다.

GH와 컨소시엄 간 기본협약 체결 후 2026년 5월 공사가 재개되면 2029년 말 준공될 예정이다.

같은 날 총사업비 6,726억 원 규모의 킨텍스 제3전시장 착공식도 성대하게 거행됐다.

기존 1·2전시장과 합치면 총 17만㎡로, 서울 코엑스의 5배 이상에 달하는 국내 최대 전시시설이 탄생한다.
이는 세계 최대 전시회인 CES도 유치 가능한 글로벌 톱급 수준이다.
