고양특례시가 지난 4일 일산동구청 대회의실에서 '2025 고양 건강도시 포럼'을 성황리에 개최했다.
이번 포럼은 국민건강증진법 개정으로 '건강도시 조성'이 지방자치단체의 책무로 명문화된 이후, 지자체가 주도적으로 건강도시 정책의 방향과 실천 과제를 논의한 첫 공식 행사라는 점에서 큰 의미를 갖는다.

포럼에는 고양시의회 의원을 비롯해 수도권 대한민국건강도시협의회 회원도시 관계자, 고양연구원, 보건소 및 관련 부서 직원 등 약 130명이 참석했다.
행사는 이동환 고양특례시장의 환영사로 시작됐으며, 김미수 고양시의회 문화복지위원장의 축사와 김현호 고양연구원장의 개회사가 이어졌다.
손창우 연세대학교 보건행정학부 교수는 '건강도시의 현재와 미래'를 주제로 기조발표를 진행했다.
이어 고양시는 자체 연구로 추진한 '고양시 건강도시 발전 방안'을 공개했다. 이번 연구는 건강도시 관점에서 고양시를 6개 영역으로 분석하고 정책 과제를 제시했다.
6개 영역은 ▲건강생활실천 ▲건강생활터 ▲건강환경개선 ▲건강교통 ▲건강형평성 ▲건강산업 등으로 구성됐으며, 이를 바탕으로 '고양형 건강도시' 비전과 추진체계를 마련했다.
기조발표 후에는 건강도시 정책의 실행 기반과 협력 체계, 빅데이터 및 AI기반 의료산업 등 지속 가능한 실천 방안을 주제로 분야별 전문가 토론이 진행됐다.

이동환 고양특례시장은 "고양시는 시민 모두가 건강하고 행복한 일상을 누릴 수 있도록 건강증진, 임신·출산, 치매 예방 등의 지원 사업과 공원, 녹지, 체육시설 확충을 통해 건강한 도시 환경을 만들어가고 있다"고 강조했다.
이어 "이번 포럼이 그간의 성과를 공유하고 회원도시 간 경험을 나누는 자리가 돼 지속 가능한 건강도시로 나아가는 데 기여하길 바란다"고 말했다.
이번 포럼은 국민건강증진법 개정 이후 지자체가 주도적으로 건강도시 정책의 방향을 논의한 첫 실질적 논의의 장으로, 지속 가능한 건강도시 정책의 실행 기반을 다지는 계기가 됐다.
