파주시가 국외 자매도시인 일본 하다노시와의 자매결연 20주년을 기념해 지난 2일부터 4일까지 하다노시를 공식 방문했다.
하다노시의 초청으로 이뤄진 이번 방문에는 최병갑 파주시 부시장을 단장으로 파주시 대표단과 파주하다노우호협회, 파주국악협회 등 총 25명이 참여해 행정·민간·예술 등 다양한 분야에서 교류를 진행했다.

대표단은 첫날 하다노시의 전통 양조장인 '카네이주조(金井酒造)'를 견학하며 일본의 전통 술 제조 문화를 체험했다.
이어진 하다노시장 주재 환영 만찬에서는 양 도시의 지속적인 협력 방안에 대해 심도 있는 의견을 나눴다.
3일에는 '하다노 시민의 날' 개회식에 참석했으며, 파주국악협회가 선보인 개회식 축하공연이 관객들의 큰 호응을 얻었다.

이어 열린 '하다노 시제시행 70주년 기념식'에서는 하다노시의 역사적 의미를 함께 기념하며 양 도시의 우정을 확인했다.
같은 날 열린 '하다노·파주 자매결연 20주년 기념행사'에서는 양 도시의 교류 역사를 사진과 영상으로 돌아보는 시간을 가졌다.
특히 과거 청소년 교류 프로그램에 참여했던 학생들이 참석해 당시의 경험이 개인의 성장과 진로에 미친 영향을 발표해 교류의 진정한 의미를 되새겼다.
