파주시가 2025년 한 해 동안 약 15억 원의 예산을 투입해 관내 71개소에 총 264대의 방범 CCTV 설치를 완료했다고 22일 밝혔다.
민선 8기 집행부 공약 사업의 일환으로 추진된 이번 사업은 당초 목표했던 연간 250대를 14대 초과 달성한 것으로, 시민 안전망 강화에 대한 파주시의 의지를 보여줬다는 평가다.

시는 CCTV 설치 대상지 선정 시 지역 간 형평과 균형을 최우선으로 고려했다.
도심지역과 비도심지역을 구분해 각 지역 실정에 맞는 맞춤형 설치 전략을 수립했다.
금촌 주민들이 자주 이용하는 공릉천길 산책로에는 4개소에 14대를 집중 배치했다.
주말농장 초입부터 보험공단으로 이어지는 구간에서 여가를 즐기는 시민들의 안전을 강화하고 범죄와 사고 발생을 예방할 수 있게 됐다.
비도심 지역에는 방범 사각지대로 알려진 33개소에 각각 2~5대씩 설치를 완료했다. 학교 주변, 마을회관 인근, 주택 밀집 지역 등 주민들의 일상 공간에 촘촘한 안전망이 구축됐다.
민북 지역 5개소, 성매매집결지 폐쇄 관련 4개소 등 도심 접근성이 떨어져 범죄 대응이 어려웠던 지역에도 CCTV가 설치됐다.
또한 하루 종일 유동 인구가 많은 GTX 운정중앙역 2개소에도 방범 시설을 확충해 대중교통 이용객의 안전을 강화했다.
양성원 첨단도시정보과장은 "도심, 비도심, 주민참여예산 사업 등을 통해 실질적인 지역 문제 해결에 기여할 것으로 기대한다"며 "내년에는 아동보호 관련 어린이 등하굣길 안심 구역 조성 등 CCTV를 지속적으로 확충해 시민 불안감 해소와 범죄예방 강화에 최선을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.
