충남 계룡시가 민선 시정의 핵심 가치인 ‘소통’을 실현하기 위해 마련한 ‘2026년 시민과의 대화’가 4일간의 일정을 마치고 성공적으로 막을 내렸다.
지난 2월 3일부터 6일까지 각 면·동을 순회하며 진행된 이번 행사는 시민들의 생생한 목소리를 시정 운영의 밑거름으로 삼는 소중한 기회가 됐다는 평가다.
이번 대화는 장소 선정부터 남달랐다.
계룡시는 행정복지센터라는 정형화된 공간에서 벗어나, 2024년 개관한 ‘청소년 별마루센터’와 2025년 문을 연 ‘계룡국민체육센터’ 등 시민들이 즐겨 찾는 최신 공공시설을 대화의 장소로 활용했다.
이는 자연스러운 시민 참여를 유도하는 동시에 지역의 우수한 기반 시설을 시민들에게 다시 한번 알리는 일석이조의 효과를 거두었다.

엄사면은 도곡천 하천 정비, 농촌 마을 도시가스 공급 확대, 참전자 사망 위로금 지원 제도 도입 등 복지와 환경 개선에 대한 의견이 주를 이뤘다.
신도안면은 특성화고등학교 건립과 방범 CCTV 설치 등 교육과 안전 시스템 강화를 요청했으며,
금암동은 도심 주차 문제 해결과 체육시설 확충, 보안등 조도 개선 등 생활 편의와 직결된 민원들이 줄을 이었다.
계룡시는 이번 행사를 단순한 일방향적 정보 전달이 아닌, 현장에서 직접 답변하고 해결책을 모색하는 ‘쌍방향 소통’에 방점을 두었다.
게룡시는 접수된 모든 건의 사항을 담당 부서별로 면밀히 검토해 즉시 조치가 가능한 사안은 신속히 해결하고, 예산이나 절차가 필요한 중장기 과제에 대해서는 대안을 마련해 시민들에게 상세히 설명할 방침이다.
계룡시 관계자는 “시민과의 대화에서 나온 소중한 의견들은 계룡의 미래를 여는 핵심 동력이 될 것”이라며 “앞으로도 시민이 주인이 되는 진정한 지방자치를 실현하기 위해 현장 중심의 소통 행정을 멈추지 않겠다”고 강조했다.
