브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= KT&G 상상마당이 신진 사진작가 육성 프로그램인 ‘KT&G SLAP(Sangsangmadang Life-Art Photographers)’ 16기 수료생들의 작품을 소개하는 전시회를 오는 24일부터 내달 27일까지 상상마당 홍대 갤러리에서 개최한다.
‘KT&G SLAP’은 신진 사진작가 육성을 위한 KT&G 상상마당 교육과정 중 하나로, 2008년부터 현재까지 180여 명의 사진작가를 배출했다.
기초 사진 이론과 프린트 기법 강의, 조별 멘토링 등 5개월 간 체계적인 교육을 지원하며, 교육과정을 수료한 작가들에게는 상상마당 홍대 갤러리에서 열리는 전시회 참여 기회와 개인 작품집 제작 지원금 등 여러 혜택을 제공한다.
‘KT&G SLAP’ 16기는 지난해 9월부터 올해 1월까지 운영됐으며, 사진작가 지원 프로그램 ‘KT&G SKOPF’에서 올해의 작가로 선정된 김성수 작가와 김승구 작가가 멘토로 참여했다.
또한, ‘KT&G SKOPF’ 최종 사진가로 이름을 올렸던 김효연 작가와 서동신 작가도 올해부터 특강 강사진으로 합류하게 되며 교육과정의 완성도를 높였다.
16기 교육과정을 수료한 작가 13명은 ‘일인칭시점’이라는 제목으로 수료 작품전을 연다. 이번 전시를 통해 ‘시점’이라는 공통 주제로 인물, 풍경, 사물 등 다양한 피사체를 다채롭게 표현한 작품 130점을 선보인다.
KT&G 나창현 문화공헌부 아카데미 담당 파트장은 “KT&G SLAP은 사진을 매체로 세상을 더욱 확장하고자 하는 작가들이 5개월 간 교육부터 전시까지 경험할 수 있도록 기획됐다”며 “앞으로도 신진 예술가들이 꿈을 펼칠 수 있도록 다양한 기회의 장을 적극적으로 만들어 가겠다”고 말했다.
한편, KT&G 상상마당은 신진 예술가들의 창작활동을 지원하고 대중들에게 폭넓은 문화 경험을 제공하는 복합문화예술공간이다. 지난 2005년 온라인 상상마당을 시작으로 홍대·논산·춘천·대치·부산까지 총 5곳에서 운영되며 문화예술 저변 확대와 지역문화 발전에 기여하고 있다. 상상마당은 연간 매년 3,000여 개의 문화예술 프로그램이 운영되고 있다.
