브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 전반기 국회 국방위원회 소속 더불어민주당 의원들이 '2020년 서해 공무원 피살 사건'을 정치적 문제로 몰아가는데 대해 "국민의힘 의원들이 안보해악을 감수하고라도 9월 24일 당시 비공개 회의록 공개를 간절히 원한다면, 국회법에 따라 회의록 열람 및 공개에 협조하겠다"고 밝혔다.
이들은 이날 오전 국회에서 기자회견을 갖고 "당시 (국방위) 비공개 회의록을 열어보면 누가 거짓말을 하는지 알 수 있을 것"이라며 이같이 말했다.
기자회견에는 국방위원장을 지냈던 민홍철 의원을 비롯해 황희, 김민기, 김병기, 김병주, 김진표, 박성준, 설훈, 안규백, 홍영표 의원이 함께했다.
이들은 2020년 9월 문재인 정부 시절 서해 상에서 피살된 공무원의 '자진 월북' 추정이 최근 뒤집힌 것과 관련 "정치에 종속될 수 있는 것이 있고, 결코 휘둘려서는 안 되는 것이 있는 법"이라며 "윤석열 정부는 과거 여야 의원들이 공감대를 이룬 내용을 뒤집고, 한미 양국이 쌓은 고도의 정보 판단 마저 부정하려는 것이냐"고 지적했다.
이어 "유가족분들의 심정은 이해하지만, 월북과 관련된 내용은 당시 관련 기관의 모든 출처에서 나온 정보를 가지고 고도의 판단을 내린 것으로 보이며 이를 공개한 것"이라며 "당시 합참은 '정보분석 결과 월북 시도 가능성이 높은 것으로 판단된다'고 밝혔다. 여기서 말하는 정보 분석은 한국과 미국이 연합정보수집 자산을 이용해 수집한 첩보를 종합해 정보 판단을 한 것"이라고 강조했다.
국방위 민주당 의원들은 또한 국민의힘에서 대통령기록물 열람을 주장하고 나서는데 대해 "당시 정보와 정황이 공개될 경우 우리 군과 미군의 정보 자산이 노출될 우려가 다분하다"면서 "군의 정보마저 정쟁으로 삼아 정치공세를 지속하는 윤석열 정부와 국민의힘 측을 보고만 있을 수는 없다"고 비판했다.
그러면서 "사건 직후 국회 국방위에서 여야 의원들의 참석 아래 관련 내용이 비밀임을 고려 당시 정황과 판단 근거를 상세하게 보고 받았으니 국민의힘에서 안보해익을 감수하고라도 당시 비공개 회의록 공개를 간절히 원한다면 국회법에 따라 회의록 열람 및 공개에 협조하겠다"고 덧붙였다.
이어 "이것으로도 의문이 풀리지 않는다면 윤석열 정부의 판단 아래 미국 측 협조를 받아 당시 특수정보(SI)를 공개하면 된다. 다만 이 정보는 민감한 정보 출처가 관련돼 있는 만큼 대한민국 안보에 해악이 뒤따른다는 것을 주지하길 바란다"고 했다.
한편 국민의힘 `서해 공무원 월북 몰이 진상규명 TF`(가칭) 단장으로 내정된 하태경 의원은 이날 MBC라디오 `김종배의 시선집중`에서 "(문재인 정부가) 월북이라고 발표하면서 조작한 것들이 지금 확인되고 있다"며 "월북이라고 보기 힘든 정황 증거들이 나타나고 있고, 앞으로도 나올 게 더 있다. 이런 게 다 수사 과정에서 조작됐다. 북한 당국 발표를 봐도 도주하려는 조짐이 있었다는 내용이 나온다. 북한도 진짜 월북 의사가 있는 사람으로 안 봤다는 것"이라고 주장했다.
하태경 의원은 이어 "우상호 비대위원장은 ‘무슨 월북 공무원 죽은 게 큰 문제냐 먹고 사는 게 중요하지’라고 하는데, 인권을 무시하고 먹고 사는 문제만 챙기면 된다는 게 전두환의 국정 철학 아닌가. 우상호 위원장은 전두환과 싸웠던 분인데 자신이 싸웠던 분과 닮아가는 것 같다"고 비판했다.
피살 공무원 故이대준씨의 아들 이모씨도 이날 우상호 비대위원장에게 보낸 자필편지를 통해 "월북인지 아닌지가 중요하지 않다면 왜 그렇게 월북이라 주장하며 사건을 무마시키려 했던 것인가. 월북이라는 두 글자로 우리 가정은 완전히 망가졌는데 지금 국민을 상대로 장난하시는거냐"고 맹비판했다.
이 씨는 "사과를 받고 북한을 굴복시켰으니 된 거 아니냐고요? 누가 누구한테 사과를 했다는 건가, 김정은이 제 가족에게 사과를 했고, 제가 용서를 했냐"면서 "우상호 의원님이 무슨 자격으로 사과를 받았으니 된 거 아니냐는 말을 내뱉는 것인가. 월북이 아니라는 증거를 내놓으라고 하기엔 먼저 월북이 확실하다는 듯 얘기한 쪽이 월북의 증거를 내놓으셔야 한다"며 "증거를 내놓지 못하면 함부로 월북이라는 단어를 입에 올려선 안 되는 것"이라고 목소리 높였다.
