과천시가 2021년에 경기도내에서 연천군(1.188명)에 이어 두 번째로 높은 출산율(1.057명)을 기록했다.
과천시는 공동주택 입주가 진행되고 있는 과천지식정보타운과 원도심 내 재건축 아파트 입주 등의 영향으로 인구가 지속 유입되는 가운데 출산율도 높아지고 있는 상황에 발맞춰 임신 및 출산과 관련한 지원을 대폭 확대하기로 결정했다.
과천시는 민선8기 공약사항으로 올해부터 임신 축하금 20만원을 지급하고, 출산 축하용품 지원 금액을 기존 10만원에서 20만원으로 확대해 지급한다.
과천시에 따르면, 지난 2019년 합계출산율은 0.78명으로 경기도 내 31개 시·군 중 최하위를 차지했지만, 2020년 0.993명으로 6위로 반등한 뒤 2021년에는 1.057명으로 연천군(1.188명)에 이어 도내 두 번째로 높은 출산율을 기록했다.
과천시는 과천에 3개월 이상 주민등록을 두고 거주한 사람 가운데, 임신 판정을 받고 과천시보건소에 임신부 등록을 한 사람에 대해 임신 축하금 20만원을 지역화폐로 지급한다.
또한, 과천시 각 동주민센터에 출생신고를 한 생후 3개월까지의 신생아에 대해 20만원 상당의 출산 축하용품을 택배로 발송·지급한다.
