의왕시가 지난 2월 23일 김성제 의왕시장을 비롯해 이소영 국회의원, 김학기 시의회 의장, 시·도의원, 학부모 등 50여명이 참석한 가운데 의왕시청 어린이집 개원식을 개최했다.
의왕시는 직장어린이집 신규 건립으로 시 직원들이 자녀를 안심하고 맡김으로써 양육부담을 해소하고, 일·가정 양립 지원과 직원들의 사기진작에도 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

지난해 2월 착공한 의왕시청 어린이집은 지상 2층, 전용면적 654.85㎡(198평)에 86명 정원 규모로 12월 준공됐다. 의왕시청 어린이집은 지난해 9월 위탁선정심의위원회를 통해 선정된 한솔어린이보육재단이 오는 3월부터 5년간 위탁 운영하게 된다.
김성제 의왕시장은 “날로 심화되고 있는 저출산 문제가 사회적으로 큰 화두인 만큼 직장어린이집 개원을 통해 직원들의 양육부담을 해소하는 한편, 저출산 문제 극복에도 한 걸음 가까워지기를 기대한다”고 말했다.
한편, 의왕시청 어린이집은 오는 3월 2일 첫 학기를 개원할 예정이다.

Work-life balance support for employees by setting up a workplace daycare center
On February 23, Uiwang City held an opening ceremony for the Uiwang City Hall Daycare Center attended by around 50 people, including Uiwang Mayor Kim Seong-je, National Assembly member Lee So-young, city council chairman Kim Hak-gi, city and provincial councilors, and parents.
Uiwang City expects that the new workplace daycare center will relieve the burden of childrearing for city employees by entrusting their children with peace of mind, contributing to work-life balance support and boosting morale of employees.
The Uiwang City Hall Daycare Center, which began construction in February last year, was completed in December with a capacity of 86 people on two floors above ground and a dedicated area of 654.85 square meters (198 pyeong). The Uiwang City Hall daycare center will be operated by the Hansol Child Care Foundation, which was selected through the consignment selection review committee in September last year, for five years from March.
Seongje Kim, mayor of Uiwang, said, “As the issue of low birth rate, which is getting worse day by day, is a hot topic in society, I hope that the opening of a workplace daycare center will ease the burden of childcare for employees and bring us one step closer to overcoming the low birth rate problem.”
Meanwhile, the Uiwang City Hall Daycare Center is scheduled to open for the first semester on March 2nd.
