경북관광기업지원센터대회의실에서 개최된 간담회는 주한우즈베키스탄 대사관을 비롯해 경북문화관광공사 및 동국대 관계자, 지역 여행사 등 30여명이 참석했다.
이번 방문은 경주시·사마르칸트시 우호결연 10주년을 기념하고 서울국제관광전에 참가 위해 방한한 대표단에게 대한민국 대표 역사문화도시인 경주시를 소개하고 지속적인 협력 관계 유지를 위해 마련됐다.
이 자리에서 주낙영 시장은 “경주-사마르칸트 우호결연 10주년을 맞이하는 뜻깊은 해를 맞아 지역을 찾아주신 대표단을 환영한다”며 “양 도시는 실크로드 거점도시라는 공통점을 바탕으로 지난 2013년 8월 경북도의 ‘실크로드 프로젝트’의 일환으로 우호도시 협약을 체결해 그간 학술 분야에서 중점적으로 교류를 해왔다”고 말했다.
그러면서 “특히 이 자리는 관광분야의 전문가들이 모인만큼 양 도시가 가지고 있는 여러 문화유산과 관광 인프라를 기반으로 관광산업에서도 물꼬가 트일 수 있게 다양한 사업방안을 검토해 달라” 고 덧붙였다.
이어 지역의 관광여건과 산업현황에 대한 브리핑과 양 도시 간 홍보 영상을 공유하며, 관광분야 실무단이 한자리에 모여 서로 협력 방안을 논의했다.
이후에는 경북관광기업지원센터 내 공유오피스, 방문자센터, 기업 입주공간, 미디어랩 등을 둘러보며 빠르게 변하고 있는 관광트렌드와 디지털 시대에 대응하기 위한 투어 시간도 가졌다.
한편, 이날 사마르칸트주 일행은 불국사와 황리단길 등 주요 사적지와 관광지를 둘러보고 서울로 이동했다.
