경주시는 지난 5일 시청에서 경주시 문화관광국장, 경북도 문화산업과장을 비롯한 시·도 관계자들이 참석한 실무회의에서 경주시가 (재)문화엑스포에 출연한 출연금 25억 원을 경주시로 귀속시키기로 합의했다고 8일 밝혔다.
(재)문화엑스포는 6월 중으로 이사회(기금변경)를 열어 이를 결정할 예정이다.
최근 해산을 앞두고 (재)문화엑스포의 재산, 인력 등을 경북문화관광공사가 포괄 승계하는 것을 골자로 한 정관 개정은 양 기관 간의 합병을 원활히 하고자 한 것 이라는 게 경북도의 입장이다.
이와 관련 주낙영 경주시장은“정관 개정에 포괄승계 조항이 있지만
경북도와 협의한 바, 경주시의 출연금 25억 원은 당연히 경주시에 귀속되어야 한다.”고 말했다.
결국 경북문화관광공사와 (재)문화엑스포 합병에 따른 포괄승계 정관 개정과 상관없이 경주시가 출연한 25억 원을 경주시로 반납 받는 것으로 일축되면서 그간의 불신이 말끔히 정리될 것으로 보인다.
경주시의회 문화도시위원회에서는 출연금 처리와 관련해 여러 가지 지적이 있었는데, 경북도와 시는 이를 수용해 해산 절차에 차질이없도록 관련 후속 조치를 철저히 해 나가기로 했다.
한편, 1996년 12월 설립된 (재)문화엑스포는 새로운 인프라나 콘텐츠가 부족해 관광활성화에 한계가 있다는 지적을 받아왔다. 이에 경북도와 경주시는 경북문화관광공사와 (재)문화엑스포를 합병해 시너지를 높이기로 하고, 통합 절차를 진행해 왔다. 이러한 절차가 마무리 되면 오는 7월 1일 통합 경북문화관광공사가 출범할 예정이다.
