북한산 생태복원을 위한 식재 봉사 활동이 지난 10일 있었다.
KT&G에 따르면 이날 KT&G복지재단은 대학생 자원봉사자와 임직원 봉사단 등 120여 명이 참가한 가운데 북한산 생태복원을 위한 나무 식재 봉사활동을 전개했다고 13일 밝혔다.
이번 봉사활동은 불법 시설물들로 인해 산림이 훼손되었던 북한산국립공원 송추분소에서 진행됐으며, 참가자들은 생태계 교란종인 외래식물 제거와 함께, 북한산 자생종인 산수국, 황매화, 산철쭉 등 총 1,830주를 식재했다.
북한산국립공원 생태복원 봉사활동은 KT&G복지재단이 2013년부터 지속적으로 운영하고 있는 사회공헌사업으로, 지난해까지 총 13,588주의 나무 식재를 통해 북한산 산림조성에 기여하고 있다.
KT&G복지재단은 북한산국립공원 외에도 대규모 산불이 발생했던 강원도 양양 낙산사의 산림복구를 위해 2006년부터 7년간 나무 약 38,000주를 식재했으며, 2016년에는 몽골의 사막화 방지를 위해 울란바토르에 임농업 교육센터를 설립하고 산림 및 영농 전문가를 육성하기도 했다.
한편 KT&G복지재단은 KT&G가 지난 2003년에 설립한 사회복지재단으로 소외된 이웃을 위한 복지 서비스뿐만 아니라 글로벌 기후 위기 대응을 위한 환경보호 활동도 활발히 펼치고 있다.
KT&G복지재단 관계자는 “산림자원의 소중함을 일깨우고 환경보존에 앞장서고자
