희망브리지 전국재해구호협회(회장 송필호)는 언론에 배포한 보도자료를 통해 지난 2월 지진으로 5만 명 이상이 사망하고 300만 명의 이재민이 발생하는 등 큰 피해를 본 튀르키예의 이재민을 위해 추진한 ‘희망브리지 형제의 마을’을 완공했다고 13일 밝혔다.
‘희망브리지 형제의 마을’은 튀르키예 중남부에 위치한 카흐라만마라슈에 200동 규모로 조성되었다. 카흐라만마라슈는 진원지인 가지안테프 인근 지역으로 지진 당시 약 54만 명이 천막에서 거주하는 등 큰 피해를 보았다.

이베른 딘체르 악사라이시장은 “갑작스러운 지진으로 큰 슬픔을 겪었는데 희망브리지의 도움으로 200동의 새로운 보금자리가 생겼다”라며, “한국에서 마음을 보내주신 분들에게 깊이 감사드린다”라고 말했다.
‘희망브리지 형제의 마을’ 입주식에 참석한 이재민들은 감사를 표하는 한편 기념 촬영에도 스스로 나서는 등 기쁨을 감추지 않았다.

향후 희망브리지는 카흐라만마라슈의 ‘희망브리지 형제의 마을’과 이스켄데룬시의 커뮤니티시설을 이용하는 이재민의 생활을 살펴보며 필요한 사항 등을 중장기적으로 지원하는 지속돌봄사업도 전개할 방침이다.
