고양소방서에 따르면 지난 28일 오전 0시46분께 119종합상황실로 고양시 덕양구 신원동의 한 아파트에서 인근 세대에 연기와 펑 소리가 났다는 신고가 접수됐다.
신고로부터 3분만에 현장에 도착한 고양소방서 직원들은 복식사다리를 이용해 화재가 발생한 세대의 배란다 창문으로 진입에 성공해 고령으로 제대로 대피하지 못하고 있는 80대 할머니를 발견해 즉시 대피를 시켰다.

다행히 집 안에 있던 스프링클러가 조기에 작동했고, 화재는 빠르게 진압됐다.
또 아파트내 화재가 발생해 대피를 하라는 안내 방송에 따라 주민들이 무사히 밖으로 대피했다.
