희망브리지 전국재해구호협회(회장 송필호)는 LG유플러스(대표 황현식)가 호우와 태풍 등으로 피해를 본 이웃을 위해 써달라며 임직원이 십시일반 모은 성금을 전해왔다고 8일 밝혔다.
LG유플러스가 전해온 의연금의 모금은 지난 7월 21일부터 3주간 진행되었으며 총 346명의 임직원이 자발적으로 참여했다. LG유플러스도 모여진 성금만큼을 더하는 매칭 방식으로 호응하며 이번 기부의 의미를 더했다.
LG유플러스 관계자는 “재난·재해가 발생할 때마다 작은 도움이지만 손길이 필요한 분들을 위해서 활발히 기부 및 구호활동을 해왔다”라며 “이번에도 다양한 기부활동을 통해 이웃의 고통을 조금이라도 덜어드리고자 했다”라고 말했다.
희망브리지 김정희 사무총장은“수해 이웃을 위해 한뜻으로 성금을 전해주신 LG유플러스와 임직원께 깊은 존경과 감사의 말씀을 드린다”라며, “희망브리지는 피해를 본 국민들이 하루빨리 일상으로 돌아갈 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”라고 말했다.
재난 구호모금 전문기관인 희망브리지 전국재해구호협회는 1961년 전국의 신문사와 방송사, 사회단체가 힘을 모아 설립한 순수 민간단체이자 국내 자연재해 피해 구호금을 지원할 수 있는 유일한 법정 구호단체다. 설립 이후 현재까지 1조6천억 원의 성금을 누적 지원했으며 6천만 점 이상의 구호물품을 지원했다.
특히 공익법인 평가 기관인 한국가이드스타가 발표하는 공익법인 투명성, 재무안정성 평가에서 5년 연속으로 최고등급을 받는 등 국민 성금을 투명하게 배분하며 집행하고 있다.
